When a reciprocating mud pump is running roughly, it can indicate several potential issues that need to be solved. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and potentially solve the problem:
1. The plunger/piston and liner are assembled with too big interference fit value:
Solution:Loosen the nuts and decrease the interference fit value;
2. The connection rod bearings are too tightly installed:
Solution:Check the clearance and adjust it to right scope;
3. Misaligned assembly between plunger/piston, linking rod and cross-head:
Solution:Check and eliminate the misalignment;
4. Some connection parts are loose:
Solution:Check and tighten the connection parts;
The above methods are only for reciprocation mud pumps of Elephant brand. Some models may be difference, please contact us for more details.
Drilling mud pumps are critical equipment in drilling operations, and mud pump wearing parts are essential to keep them operating efficiently. How to disassemble the mud pump wearing parts?
1. Piston / Plunger: remove the liner cover clamping nuts, loose the thick and thin nuts of the linking rod inside the liner, and then take the liner out by special piston disassembly tool.
2. Liner: after the disassembly of the pump head and then piston as per above procedure, put a special tool – jacking plate in-between the linking rod and the liner, rotate the pump until the linking rod push the liner out.
3. Valve Seat: take away valve cover firstly, and then disassemble the valve seat with special tool to remove the valve seat.
4. Linking Rod Seal: after taking out the liner, loose the connection between the linking rod and cross-head, disassemble the linking rod, and then open the clamping cover above the linking rod seal, now the seal can be taken out for replacement.
5. Safety Valves’ Spring: open the protection cover at the top of the valve, loose the adjusting bolts, remove the valve cover, and then the valve spring can be taken out for replacement.
6. Pressure Relief Valve: disassemble the valve lever firstly, then loose the jam nut, round nut and seal nuts, etc., then such valve parts as the V-shape seals, seal seat, valve levers can be replaced; further, loose the connection bolts beneath the valve body, then the valve seat can be removed for replacement.
The above methods are only for horizontal mud pump products of Elephant brand. Some models may be difference, please contact us for more details.
Mud pumps are critical equipment in drilling operations, and spare parts are essential to keep them operating efficiently. A mud pump is composed of many parts, some common mud pump spare parts include:
1. Mud Pump Liner:
It also called the cylinder liner. The cylinder liner is the core accessory of the mud pump, which has the functions of storing mud, bearing pressure and completing the suction and discharge of mud. Mud pump liners are in different sizes and designed to fit different types of mud pumps. Mud pump cylinder liner is a one-time wearable part that cannot be reused, and its life span directly affects the normal operation and cost of the drilling operation. Usually, the cylinder liners are divided into bimetal liners and ceramic liners. Elephant mud pump uses ceramic cylinder liner. It can help to protect the pump and enhance its durability and efficiency, reducing downtime and operating costs.
2. Mud Pump Piston:
Drilling mud Pump piston is the main accessory in the hydraulic end system of the mud pump, and it is also one of the most frequently used wearing parts in the mud pump. Usually, the piston assembly is composed of piston hub, rubber, snap ring, plate, etc. The material of the piston hub is 42CrMo, and the material of the piston rubber is NBR rubber or polyurethane rubber. Elephant mud pump pistons use wear-resistant fiber cloth, which is the only factory using this material in China. The working life averages 2-3 longer than other mud pump pistons.
3. Mud Pump Valve Seat:
The valve seat and steel ball of the elephant mud pump adopts special treatment technology, and after precise calculation and processing, its high strength is guaranteed. In addition, the size matching of the valve seat and the working angle of the valve body are accurately calculated and processed, which improves the service life of the valve seat. There are upper valve seat and lower valve seat.
4. Mud Pump Water Seal:
Mud pump water seal is the important spare part and expendable part of mud pump. The water seal in a mud pump serves as a vital component to prevent external contaminants from entering into the pump bearing, and maintains lubrication to various parts in the pump. Having a properly functioning water seal can increase the efficiency of the pump by reducing the chances of wear and breakdowns, leading to increased uptime and lower maintenance costs.
5. Crossheads and Crosshead Guides: These components help reduce friction and wear, and ensure proper alignment of the piston rod and crankshaft.
In addition, there are some other wearing parts are important for a mud pump. Such as the seal ring, one-way valve, anti-dusting ring, wear resistance ring, mud pump head, etc.
You can find mud pump spare parts from various suppliers and manufacturers worldwide. It is essential to ensure that the spare parts are compatible with your mud pump's model and specifications, as using incorrect parts can cause damage to the equipment and pose a safety hazard.
