A diesel engine mud pump is a specialized type of reciprocating pump used in various industries, particularly in drilling operations. It is specifically designed to handle demanding drilling conditions where a reliable and portable source is required.
The diesel engine mud pump combines a diesel engine with a mud pump, providing a self contained unit that delivers high pressure fluid for drilling purposes. The diesel engine serves as the power source, driving the mud pump's reciprocating pistons or plungers to generate the required pressure for circulating drilling mud.
The diesel engine offers several advantages for mud pump applications. Firstly, it provides a reliable and efficient power source that operates independently of electrical grids or power supply infrastructure. This makes diesel engine mud pumps suitable for remote or off grid drilling sites.
Additionally, diesel engines are known for their durability and robustness, making them well-suited for rugged drilling environments. They can handle high loads and continuous operation without compromising performance.
The mud pump component of the diesel engine mud pump is responsible for creating the required pressure to circulate drilling mud. It typically consists of multiple pistons or plungers that work in a synchronized manner to create a smooth and constant flow of mud. This circulation helps cool the drill bit, carry away rock cuttings, and maintain optimal drilling conditions.
Elephant Machinery CO.,LTD, a reputable manufacturer of mud pumps, offers a range of diesel engine mud pumps that meet the industry's rigorous standards. Their pumps are designed for reliability, durability, and efficient performance, ensuring smooth drilling operations in various applications.
Drilling mud pumps are critical equipment in drilling operations, and mud pump wearing parts are essential to keep them operating efficiently. How to disassemble the mud pump wearing parts?
1. Piston / Plunger: remove the liner cover clamping nuts, loose the thick and thin nuts of the linking rod inside the liner, and then take the liner out by special piston disassembly tool.
2. Liner: after the disassembly of the pump head and then piston as per above procedure, put a special tool – jacking plate in-between the linking rod and the liner, rotate the pump until the linking rod push the liner out.
3. Valve Seat: take away valve cover firstly, and then disassemble the valve seat with special tool to remove the valve seat.
4. Linking Rod Seal: after taking out the liner, loose the connection between the linking rod and cross-head, disassemble the linking rod, and then open the clamping cover above the linking rod seal, now the seal can be taken out for replacement.
5. Safety Valves’ Spring: open the protection cover at the top of the valve, loose the adjusting bolts, remove the valve cover, and then the valve spring can be taken out for replacement.
6. Pressure Relief Valve: disassemble the valve lever firstly, then loose the jam nut, round nut and seal nuts, etc., then such valve parts as the V-shape seals, seal seat, valve levers can be replaced; further, loose the connection bolts beneath the valve body, then the valve seat can be removed for replacement.

Elephant Mud Pump Maintenance:
* Mud pump in each shift before starting, should be according to the "preparatory work before opening the pump" for inspection.
* The pump working pressure shall be strictly controlled according to the label instructions. The continuous working time under the rated maximum working pressure shall not exceed one hour, and the continuous working pressure shall be controlled within 80% of the rated pressure (refers to the thick mud medium).
* Should pay attention to the appropriate tightness and should not leak washing liquid, or timely adjustment or replacement of parts.
* Rubber parts should be stored in cool, dry, small temperature change (room temperature within 10-25℃), dark light, no ultraviolet ray into the best room (window glass painted red or orange yellow, can not be painted blue), storage time is not more than half a year.
* Pull rod, plunger, crosshead sleeve, cross and other metal parts should be stored in dry and non-corrosive gas room, and coated with anti-rust oil or wax seal, wax removal and clean when using, check whether there are bumps and burr, especially the working surface in contact with rubber parts, grease should be applied when assembling.
* Long-term mud pump stop also must pump water and oil all out, clean up the mud and dirt on the components, and the following parts coated with grease: crankshaft journal, crosshead, crosshead sliding sleeve, pull rod, valve cover, cylinder head, valve seat hole and valve stem and valve seat, etc..
* In the winter season or cold areas, when the pump is stopped for a long time, the flushing liquid in the pump and the pipelines must be released to avoid freezing and cracking equipment.
* In order to ensure the normal operation of the piston mud pump or plunger mud pump, it is necessary to check the working condition of the mud pump regularly, and eliminate the problems found in time to avoid accidents. The maintenance cycle is shown in the table:
Maintenance And Repair Parts
Maintenance Period
1. The connection between the components, the fixed pump on the foundation, the oil level of the lubricating oil in the pump body
Once Per Shift
2. Tighten and seal suction and discharge hoses and whether they are blocked
Once Per Shift
3. Fastening condition of plunger, tie rod and crosshead
Do it at least once a week
4. Dust-proof sealing ring for inlet and drainage valve and pull rod
Check as required
5. Connecting rod tile, safety valve
Every two months
6. Regularly disassemble, clean and check all parts
Every six months
